What kind of Dive Program is at the LJL and do you conduct dive tours to Coiba?

LJL has some dive equipment and uses its own compressor to fill tanks although all diving tours and Scientific Diving is outsourced to  third party Dive Operator in Pixvae. Students and Researchers may also arrange their own diving in the villages of Santa Catalina, Pixvae, or Puerto Mutis.

I have been admitted to the LJL to conduct science research and we plan on SCUBA diving – what is required?

LJL has a small dive facility to support Scientific Divers conducting underwater experiments and surveys. Admitted applicants must bring all personal dive gear and provide a letter of reciprocity from their institutional Dive Safety Officer outlining certification levels, dive experience, and physical fitness.  LJL adheres to the AAUS best practices outlined by WHOI or STRI.

Accommodation = $200 per person per day including 3 meals Small boat Use = $100 per hour including captain Transportation to LJL = contact LJL for the up to date rates.
